Challenge Spreadable Butter

The newest addition to the Challenge family, Challenge Spreadable Butter is created by combining our regular butter with the finest canola oil. This combination goes on smooth and easy right out of the fridge and provides a tasty alternative to flavorless spreads.

Challenge European Style Butter

Grade AA, 83% butterfat versus 80% for regular butters; made by churning cream slower and longer in the age-old tradition of fine European butters. It has a creamier taste and a silkier texture. It’s preferred by many chefs because it makes flakier pastries, smoother sauces and more savory seafood, meat and vegetable dishes.

Challenge Butter—no added hormones

Grade AA, made by churning cream until it reaches a semi-solid state. It is 80% butterfat, the remaining 20% is water, milk solids and salt. It is used for table butter and for general cooking.

Challenge Unsalted Butter—no added hormones

Grade AA, also known as "sweet" butter has no salt added. Since salt acts as a preservative, Unsalted butter is more perishable than salted. Some recipes call for unsalted butter and some cooks prefer it so they can adjust the seasoning level of dishes to their taste.

Danish Creamery Butter—no added hormones

Grade AA butter made with a long tradition of quality since 1895. Use as table butter and for general cooking.

Challenge Whipped Butter—no added hormones

Made from lightly whipped Grade AA butter. It spreads more easily when chilled than stick butter and should be used as a table spread or topping, rather than for baking. Whipped butter contains more air than regular butter. Because its weight and density are not the same as an equal measure of regular butter, it should not be used in recipes unless specified.

Challenge Unsalted Whipped Butter—no added hormones

Like Whipped Butter above but contains no salt. Again, use as a topping, not for baking.

Challenge Light Butter

Enjoy the taste of butter with half the calories, fat and cholesterol of butter. Use as a topping or spread, not for baking and frying.
