Sales Management Trainee Program

Founded in 1911 Challenge Dairy Products Inc is the largest retail brand of butter sold in the Western thirteen United States. As the only Statewide Foodservice Dairy in California we have eight strategically located distribution centers that provide over 1,000 foodservice items to foodservice operators and manufacturers throughout California, Nevada, and Arizona. Our products are distributed direct from manufacturing to operators in our refrigerated trucks nearly every day.

The ideal Sales Management Trainee Candidate will begin their career with Challenge Dairy at one of the distribution centers and learn to work in all aspects of the business including warehouse management, delivery of products to foodservice operators and customer service. In addition to effectively and efficiently performing your individual duties of the distribution, it is expected that you will provide recommendations to further reduce costs, increase productivity and improve sales.

Upon successful completion of the Distribution Sales Management Trainee program the candidate will be placed within an existing sales territory and be a District Sales Manager. As a District Sales Manager you will be fully trained and given the tools to effectively drive additional sales and revenue through volume, product mix, pricing and new business development for your area. You will be given the autonomy to determine current customer needs for a broader portfolio of products, drive new account sales, and improve overall profitability.

As the successful candidate progresses through the District Sales Manager portion of the Sales Management Trainee Program their responsibilities will increase and include training, generating new ideas for business improvements, problem-solving and providing assistance to the Branch (General) Manager so that they ultimately take over the responsibilities as Branch Manager.

When you are Branch Manager you will be responsible for the entire operations of the Branch including determining and achieving growth targets; overseeing the effective and efficient delivery of products to the customer; customer relations and retention; business development; management of personnel including hiring, development, coaching, mentoring and P&L management.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business and/or related discipline required.
  • Experience within foodservice and/or consumer products desired.
  • Must have strong communication, leadership and analytical skills.
  • Required to be a quick learner.
  • Legally authorized to work in the US for this employer.
